Product Description:
Knifemaker Grant Hawk thinks outside the box, as his K-AT (Knife? All Terrain) system clearly demonstrates. The CRKT production version is a full tang fixed blade of bead blast AUS 6M stainless steel with black urethane scales.
Thoughtfully designed for utility, the spear point blades are available with Razor-Sharp or Combination Razor-Sharp and Triple-Point? Serrated edges.
The stowable landyard (patent pending) completes the handle or goes around the wrist. When you need it, you have added security. When you don?t it stows and becomes part of the handle, providing additional grip?and there is nothing dangling to get caught on brush or limbs.
The two-part convertible black urethane sheath is another example of Grant?s creative thinking. The belt attachment is designed with a 1.75 in. slot to go on belts or webbing. Complete, the sheath weighs only 2.2 ounces. For minimal weight carry in packs, or chain carry around the neck (chain not included), simply remove the attachment pin, and you have a compact sheath weighing only 0.8 ounces.
Urethane is tough, yet soft, offering the silent carry and draw of leather with the almost indestructible characteristics of a modern synthetic. The sheath has a molded detent system, which securely grips the knife. Once the K-AT knife snaps into place, it takes a firm thumb push on the sheath to draw.
Grant has ingeniously used nylon cord and neoprene o-ring groups to secure both the knife lanyard and the sheath pin.
Here is a truly versatile fixed blade knife system that is a remarkably lightweight package. It is so different and useful we just had to put it into production.
Columbia River Knife & Tool (CRKT) is a Wilsonville, Oregon-based manufacturer of quality knives and tools founded in 1994. The Columbia River Knife catalog has grown and is divided into two categories, Sport and Work Knives, intended for the general public; and Professional Knives, designed for the military, law enforcement, fire department, search and rescue and other emergency services personnel.
Founders, Rod Bremer and Paul Gillespie commented on the Columbia River Knife & Tool's rapid growth in the highly competitive cutlery industry: "We began with the vision of offering top quality knives at affordable prices to give the highest possible value," said Gillespie. Fortunately, because we were starting with a blank sheet of paper, we could make the new designs we wanted from the optimum materials, using the latest high tech manufacturing processes, including CNC machining, injection molding and fine blanking.
Before packing and shipping each Columbia River Knife & Tool knife, it is inspected for defects in materials and workmanship, the lock and cutting edge are checked, it is opened and closed to assure smoothness of action, and it is lubricated and adjusted if needed.
All Columbia River Knife & Tool knives are built incorporating the most advanced equipment and production systems available, and quality is controlled from beginning to end. Knives are built the way they should be built without compromising quality in any part of their creation. Columbia River Knife & Tool accessories are crafted to the same standards as the knives, so that each sheath, for example, lives up to the customers high expectations.
