Product Description:
It looks like a hefty folding skinner. Then you notice that one removable scale is a hawksbill caping knife, the other is a detail skinner. Three knives in one?

Some knives are just so unique they stop you in your tracks. When we first saw Mike Franklin's custom Serengeti folding hunter, we had to look again. What seemed like decorative stainless steel scales were really two removable skinning fixed blades with single side grinds. So you have three knives in one: a folder with a heavy skinning blade, a detail skinner, and a combination serrated caping knife - a system that will handle virtually every cleaning and skinning chore. It's no wonder it was named Most Innovative Folding Knife at the 2001 Knifemakers? Guild show. We knew we had to offer a production version.

The Serengeti Folder is the heart of the system. Its stout stainless steel open build is easily cleaned. The frame is 420J2 stainless steel in a satin finish. The lock for the main blade is a frame lock design, CNC machined. In the first frame lock application we know of, we have incorporated the patented* Lake And Walker Knife Safety (LAWKS®) into the Serengeti which converts it to a virtual fixed blade when engaged. A grey hard anodized 6061 T6 aluminum back spacer gives exceptional rigidity and strength.

The bead blast AUS 6M stainless steel blade is a 3.5 in. Razor-Sharp classic heavy skinning blade designed to make fast work of pulling hide. A machined thumb disk allows fast opening with either hand. Teflon® bearings at the blade pivot make the action buttery smooth.

The two smaller fixed blades are AUS 6M stainless steel, skeletonized with CNC chamfered edges and a single side grind. When locked on the knife by the unique stainless steel saddle clips, they make very secure and effective grip surfaces. The precision fit effectively seals the cutting edges to the frame.

The Caping Knife has a 1.75 in. hawksbill Combination Serrated blade, Razor-Sharp for 0.44 in. nearest the tip. It is ideal for detail caping work around the nose, lips and ears. It weighs only 1.3 ounces.

The Detail Skinner is perfect for working around the legs and head, with its 2.00 in. Razor-Sharp curved skinning blade, and weighs 1.2 ounces.

Not only is it unique, it's the most versatile hunting knife and the best integrated system of three knives we have ever seen. You are going to hear about this knife around the campfire.

About Columbia River
Columbia River Knife & Tool (CRKT) is a Wilsonville, Oregon-based manufacturer of quality knives and tools founded in 1994. The Columbia River Knife catalog has grown and is divided into two categories, Sport and Work Knives, intended for the general public; and Professional Knives, designed for the military, law enforcement, fire department, search and rescue and other emergency services personnel. Founders, Rod Bremer and Paul Gillespie commented on the Columbia River Knife & Tool's rapid growth in the highly competitive cutlery industry: "We began with the vision of offering top quality knives at affordable prices to give the highest possible value," said Gillespie. Fortunately, because we were starting with a blank sheet of paper, we could make the new designs we wanted from the optimum materials, using the latest high tech manufacturing processes, including CNC machining, injection molding and fine blanking. Before packing and shipping each Columbia River Knife & Tool knife, it is inspected for defects in materials and workmanship, the lock and cutting edge are checked, it is opened and closed to assure smoothness of action, and it is lubricated and adjusted if needed. All Columbia River Knife & Tool knives are built incorporating the most advanced equipment and production systems available, and quality is controlled from beginning to end. Knives are built the way they should be built without compromising quality in any part of their creation. Columbia River Knife & Tool accessories are crafted to the same standards as the knives, so that each sheath, for example, lives up to the customers high expectations.
